At Climate Gains, our objective is to use carbon markets to serve those who are most profoundly affected by climate change. We are driven by a deep commitment to fostering climate action, making carbon markets accessible to communities and small organizations, and directing climate finance toward adaptation activities that matter most. Our core principles and objectives are rooted in addressing the pressing challenges posed by global warming.

Climate Gains cuts out the middleman, placing the power and funding directly into the hands of those who are committed to taking climate action. We make it more accessible than ever for individuals who may not have the financial means to invest upfront, allowing them to participate and create a positive impact.

Our Threefold Mission

1. Get More Climate Finance to Adaptation Activities: We aim to ensure that a more substantial share of climate finance directly benefits the communities and regions that are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. By increasing the financial support for adaptation activities, we work towards building resilience and protecting the livelihoods of those on the frontlines of climate impacts.
2. Make Carbon Markets Accessible: Climate Gains is dedicated to breaking down the barriers that have traditionally prevented communities and small organizations from participating in carbon markets. Our goal is to simplify the complexities of Monitoring, Reporting, and Evaluation (MRV) processes, enabling more people to access the benefits of carbon markets without excessive time or financial burdens.
3. Support Climate Justice Efforts and Actors: We actively contribute to climate justice by supporting the activities and individuals who are working tirelessly to address the inequities exacerbated by climate change. Through our platform, we empower climate justice advocates and enable them to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Our Approach in Action

At the heart of Climate Gains is a commitment to speeding up emissions reduction by making climate finance accessible to those who are ready to take concrete action without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. We firmly believe that individuals and communities should not have to expend significant time and resources producing complex documents before they can engage in climate initiatives.

In our mobile app, participants involved in climate actions engage in a conversational process using only their smartphone camera. This guided process simplifies data structuring, collection, verification, and approval, streamlining the entire MRV process. We harness technology to automate the calculation of impacts, such as CO2 reductions, and seamlessly integrate this information into standard compliance reports. These reports can be tailored to meet specific reporting requirements, accommodating the unique needs of those responsible for spending climate finance and being accountable to others.

How Does Our Solution Work?

When a funder allocates a budget for a program centered around activist solutions, these solutions are carefully selected based on their proven effectiveness, accessibility, and scalability. These are solutions that can be implemented by anyone and are adaptable to numerous locations.

As an individual who wishes to contribute to emissions reduction, you can choose one of two paths:

1. Implement a Local Action Requiring Financing: You can sign up to execute a local climate action that requires funding, actively contributing to reducing emissions in your community.
2. Become an Activist to Ensure Accountability: Alternatively, you can sign up as an activist to help ensure that climate projects are carried out transparently and without any cheating or greenwashing.

For instance, if you opt to implement a local action in your community, the Climate Gains application provides you with easy access to all the information you need to make an informed choice. You can select an action that aligns with your community's needs and record a video in which you answer a few questions, explaining why the project is a good fit for your area.

We've already prototyped this process with Vash Green Schools, where activities like the installation of solar panels and cookstoves have transformed 30 schools in Uganda, resulting in an expected lifetime emission reduction of 30,000 metric tons of CO2.

Our Goals

Our long-term goal is to embed this approach into how governments and institutions finance and evaluate climate projects. We aspire to reshape the landscape of climate finance, making it more accessible, just, and effective. We want to ensure that the tool and process are truly useful in supporting activists work.

• Browse climate actions that are funded and looking for activists to carry them out.
• Send your application by video, explaining how you plan on executing the tasks.
• If your application is validated, you will receive the first portion of funding to get started. As you complete more projects, you will become one of our trusted activists, giving you priority for future opportunities.

Get Started as a Verifier

• Browse climate actions around the world in need of evaluation.
• Review the applicant's video and either validate, ask questions, or flag it as suspicious. Each step takes under five minutes.
• Each project you review earns you badges, which can earn you great incentives like field visits!
• You can also earn points by learning more about the sectors we work with - hear from experts about solar power, agriculture, and more.
